Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby Rules 2008

bullet Starting May 1st at 12:01 am Derby will run through September 30 until 9:00 pm.
 
bullet All fish must be taken on sport tackle only.
 
bullet All contestants must have purchased an official derby ticket prior to the time of the catch and fish must be caught on the date punched on the ticket.
 
bullet Anglers must comply with the Alaska Fish and Game Regulations.
 
bullet Tickets must be purchased from an official ticket vendor. Price is $10 per daily derby ticket.
 
bullet In the event of a blow-out, tickets are refundable or may be exchanged for another ticket to be used at a later date. Tickets must be exchanged on the same day of the blow-out and be signed by the captain or the charter company official declaring the blow-out.
 
bullet Contestants must fish from a vessel that departs from and returns to the Homer Harbor on the same voyage.
 
bullet All entry fish caught on a derby ticket must be weighed in before 9 pm on the day caught, accompanied by the angler and a witness. The fish and angler must be transported to the Homer harbor on the boat on which the fish was caught. All tagged fish must be checked in at derby headquarters the day it is caught and must be completely intact with the tag untampered. Tag fish cash prizes are only awarded for current year tags.
 
bullet Entrants for the released fish prize drawing must register and present a valid derby ticket at Derby Headquarters on the day the angler returns to the Homer Harbor. The derby ticket must be signed by the captain and a witness, verifying that a live fish weighing at least 60lbs. was caught and released by the entrant on the day punched on the derby ticket. Released fish entries are limited to one entry per day of fishing.  

bullet Contestants entering and weighing fish at Derby Headquarters must complete official forms available there. At least one witness must testify that the fish was caught in accordance with official derby rules. Weighing must be done according to the standard derby procedure and certified by weigh-in official. Cleaning of entry fish may be supervised by the derby official.
 
bullet Monthly prizes are awarded for the months of May, June, July, August, and September.
 
bullet In the event that the monthly prize winner qualifies for the Jackpot Prize, that angler will be awarded the larger prize and the angler catching the next largest fish (for that month) will be awarded the top monthly prize.  
 
bullet The following are not eligible for derby participation: 2008 employees or owners of a charter company; 2008 Jackpot Derby Committee Members; 2008 employees of the Homer Chamber of Commerce.
 
bullet All entries and awarding of prizes are subject to review and final determination by the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby Committee. Participants may be subject to a polygraph test.
 
bullet Violation of any rule will disqualify contestant.
 
bullet The Homer Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to: photograph all derby entrants, reproduce any photographs for publicity purposes, and retain all photo rights.
 
bullet All prize winners are responsible to cover all taxes & fees associated with prize winnings. Prizes may be subject to withholding based on IRS requirements.
